I’m a 30 year old full-time artist from Joliet, IL. I attended Joliet Central and Joliet Junior College. Blessed with the skills to create murals, sculptures and paintings, I enjoy the style of mix realism, portraits, grey scale with abstract colored paint splatter and fantasy. Since the age of four years old, I’ve been interested in realism drawing and have been challenging myself to draw everything possible using light direction and shadows.
I am a two-time cancer survivor. I discovered the magical effects of art at age 23 while sitting in a hospital bed connected to an IV during my second round. My first round was at age 12. It was on that hospital bed with a canvas and paints that my family brought to me, when I felt the magic of each brush stroke. It took me into a state of tranquility and pure bliss, like a shield from the treatments and the emotional struggle I was dealing with.
In 2017, I accomplished my dream of opening my own art studio, Art of Breath Galeria - across from the downtown Joliet Public Library branch, a couple storefronts away from the Joliet Route 66 Diner.
Another dream of mine is to take art supplies, sketch pads, paints, canvases, etc. to hospitals and work with children going through what I went through. I feel a sense of freedom when I turn off my brain and turn on the trust in the creative process. I want to share what helped me on my journey by giving short presentations and teaching painting classes to children at hospitals in the Chicagoland area.
